The Orioles (55-58) continue their three-game home series against the Los Angeles Angels (43-70) on Wednesday at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
Cade Povich delivered the performance of the night in Tuesday's 3-1 win, working six innings and striking out seven without allowing an earned run. Pete Alonso went 1-for-4 with two RBI, and Tyler O'Neill smacked a pinch-hit solo home run to account for the rest of Baltimore's offense. Yennier Cano closed it out with two strikeouts in a scoreless ninth to seal the victory.
The Angels enter having now lost eight of their last ten and sitting among the American League's worst records at 43-70, and they again present Baltimore a favorable matchup. Los Angeles sends lefty Reid Detmers (3-7, 4.03 ERA) to the mound. Trevor Rogers (6-7, 4.27 ERA) counters for the Orioles. The trade deadline is in the past and has reshaped Baltimore's roster - most notably sending Adley Rutschman to Boston - but the Orioles' starting pitching core, arguably headed by Rogers, remains, giving them a chance to make a run at the postseason.
The O's are just 1.5 games out of the final AL wild-card spot.
