Orioles Look to Complete Series Sweep Over Slumping Mets at Citi Field

Baltimore sends Chris Bassitt to the mound Wednesday night against a New York club that has dropped three straight.

Baltimore Sports Feed · September 16, 2026

The Orioles (74-78) visit the New York Mets (69-82) for the series finale at Citi Field on Wednesday, looking to complete a three-game sweep of a Mets club that has struggled to find consistent footing this month.

Baltimore needed extra innings to take Tuesday's game, 7-5, with Coby Mayo delivering the pivotal blow — a home run and three RBI on a 2-for-5 night. Christian Encarnacion-Strand also went 2-for-5 with a solo shot, and Jeremiah Jackson added a home run in four at-bats. On the mound, Luis De León worked two scoreless innings and Grant Wolfram struck out two in a clean inning of relief to help Baltimore hold on.

New York has dropped three straight and will send RHP Robert Stock (1-3, 5.93 ERA) to the mound in the finale. Chris Bassitt (7-5, 4.88 ERA) takes the ball for Baltimore. A win Wednesday would extend the Orioles' current two-game winning streak and help chip away at a 3.0-game deficit for the final AL wild-card spot — ground they need to recover with the regular season winding down.
