Orioles Acquire Catcher Jake Rogers From Tigers to Cover for Rutschman

Baltimore adds depth behind the plate days before the trade deadline as Adley Rutschman lands on the injured list with left wrist inflammation.

Baltimore Sports Feed · July 30, 2026

The Baltimore Orioles acquired catcher Jake Rogers from the Detroit Tigers on Thursday in exchange for Double-A right-hander Zane Barnhart. Rogers had been designated for assignment by Detroit earlier in the week. Barnhart will report to Double-A Erie as part of the deal.

The move comes with Adley Rutschman placed on the 10-day injured list with left wrist inflammation, his third IL stint of the 2026 season. Rutschman previously missed time with left ankle inflammation (April 11–21) and a concussion (June 19–28). Rogers gives Baltimore a veteran option behind the plate as the Orioles approach the August 3rd trade deadline.
