The Chicago White Sox beat the Baltimore Orioles 8-2 Monday night at Oriole Park at Camden Yards as Colson Montgomery hit a go-ahead double in the eighth inning and Jacob Gonzalez drove in three runs to give the White Sox a series-opening win.
Montgomery's double to right broke a 2-2 tie in the eighth and opened the floodgates for Chicago, which scored six runs over the final two frames. Gonzalez finished with three RBI on multiple hits to pace the White Sox offense. Shane Baz was tagged for four earned runs in the loss for Baltimore.
The Orioles were tied at 2-2 through seven innings but could not hold on, with their bullpen failing to bridge to the final out as Chicago took full advantage in the late innings. The loss dropped Baltimore to 39-47 on the season.
The White Sox and Orioles continue their three-game series Tuesday night.
