The Baltimore Orioles have signed lefty Zane Adams, their sixth-round selection (171st overall) from the 2026 MLB Draft. Adams' draft selection carries a slot value of $396,300, though no specific signing bonus figure has been publicly confirmed as of the signing. Baltimore completed its 20-round 2026 draft class on July 11 and 12.
Adams, out of Alabama's college program, is a 6-foot-4 SEC Saturday starter with a four-pitch mix headlined by a fastball that can touch 96 miles per hour and an effective changeup. He went undrafted in 2025 after a rough sophomore year, returned as a junior and posted 100 strikeouts in 90⅓ innings.
Orioles' VP of domestic scouting Will Robertson said of Adams: "A 6-4 lefty up to 96 with a swing-and-miss changeup — that size and left-handedness usually isn't available where we got him."
Adams is notably just the third Alabama-born player ever drafted by the Orioles organization and the first since Emeel Salem in 2006.
