The Orioles announced Saturday that they have agreed to terms with right-handed pitcher Kyle Bradish on a five-year contract extension covering the 2027–31 seasons. The deal is reportedly worth $90 million.
“Keeping players of Kyle’s caliber in an Orioles uniform is an important part of our long-term vision,” Orioles owner David Rubenstein said in a team-released statement. “We are grateful to Kyle for his commitment to our organization and to Baltimore. Thanks to Mike Elias and the entire baseball operations department for their dedication throughout this process.”
Bradish, 29, has been in good form lately, looking like he did before he went down with an elbow injury in 2024 that required Tommy John surgery. This season, he’s posted a 3.61 ERA (43 ER/107.1 IP) with 106 strikeouts in 19 starts.
In his career, he is 25-24 with a 3.50 ERA (181 ER/465.0 IP) with 396 hits (48 HR), 192 total runs, 165 walks, and 485 strikeouts in 86 starts, all with the Orioles. The right-hander finished fourth in the 2023 American League Cy Young Award voting after helping the team to an AL-best 101 wins while posting a 2.83 ERA, the lowest by an Oriole since Mike Mussina’s 2.54 ERA in 1992. Among players who have pitched in at least 300.0 innings since the start of 2023, he ranks 11th with a 3.03 ERA.
Bradish was acquired from the Los Angeles Angels along with three other players in exchange for right-hander Dylan Bundy on December 4, 2019. He was a fourth-round pick by the Angels in 2018 out of New Mexico State University.
“We have believed strongly in Kyle since he first joined the organization as a minor leaguer in 2019,” Orioles president of baseball operations and general manager Mike Elias said in a statement. “He has worked hard, with the support of our entire development team, to become one of the best starting pitchers in the league. He's an exemplary member of our team and our community, and we are thrilled that he and his family are here to stay. This extension reflects the continued dedication of our ownership group, led by David Rubenstein, to build and sustain a team that our fans and Baltimore can be proud of.”
The Orioles will hold a press conference with Bradish and Elias on Friday.
