The Baltimore Orioles placed catcher Samuel Basallo on the 10-day injured list retroactive to July 20 with right shoulder inflammation. Basallo left Sunday's 5-2 victory over the Astros after catching just one inning, departing following a groundout to open the second. Sam Huff, whose contract was selected prior to the game, stepped in behind the plate as his replacement.
To help cover the roster need, the Orioles also recalled outfielder Johnathan Rodríguez from Triple-A Norfolk. The IL placement sidelines one of Baltimore's most promising young hitters at a critical stretch of the season.
