The Baltimore Orioles beat the Minnesota Twins 5-2 Tuesday as Gunnar Henderson, Pete Alonso, and Christian Encarnacion-Strand each hit home runs to support a strong outing from starter Brandon Young.

Henderson went 3-for-5 with a double, a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored. Alonso matched him with a 3-for-4 line that included a home run and two RBI, while Encarnacion-Strand added his own solo shot in a 3-for-4 effort.

"A lot of really good things happened today," Orioles manager Craig Albernaz said.

Baltimore (58-62) built its lead early, scoring two runs in the first inning and adding two more in the second against Twins starter Bailey Ober, who allowed all three home runs and five earned runs over six innings.

The Orioles tacked on a run in the third to stretch the margin to 5-2, then the Young and a trio of relievers held Minnesota (59-62) scoreless the rest of the way.

Young earned the win with six innings of one-run ball, striking out four, and Andrew Kittredge closed it out with a scoreless ninth for the save.

Henderson, Alonso and Encarnacion-Strand accounted for nine of the Orioles' 11 hits.

Pozo injured, but not seriously

Catcher Yohel Pozo exited the game in the third inning after being injured on a swing by the Twins' Josh Bell. The Orioles said Pozo had "left index finger pain" as a result of the swing that knocked his glove from his hand, and put Bell on first because of catcher's interference.

Albernaz said after the game X-rays came back negative on the finger, meaning Pozo avoided serious injury, which would have set back the O's catching corps even more with Samuel Basallo (right shoulder) still on the injured list.
