NASCAR's Cup Series will return to Dover Motor Speedway for a 400-mile points-paying race on Sunday, May 16, 2027, track officials announced Wednesday, with the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series running the Bet Rivers 200 the day before.

The race weekend carries a built-in storyline: Denny Hamlin returns to The Monster Mile chasing a fourth consecutive Cup Series win there, something no driver in NASCAR history has ever done at Dover.

The 2027 date also continues one of the sport's longest active streaks. Dover will host Cup Series competition for the 58th consecutive year and stage its 109th all-time Cup race, putting it among just 12 tracks in NASCAR history to have hosted more than 100 Cup Series events. The weekend marks a return to Dover's traditional points-race format after the track hosted NASCAR's All-Star Weekend in 2026.

"Whether it's a points race, an All-Star Race or a Chase race, one thing never changes — we work for the fans," Dover Motor Speedway president and general manager Mike Tatoian said. "They are the heart of everything we do, and we're constantly looking for ways to make every visit to The Monster Mile more entertaining than the last. Our goal is to create memories that last a lifetime, and we can't wait to welcome everyone back next spring for another outstanding weekend on and off the track."

Outside the oval, the track's Fan Zone returns with driver appearances, live music, food and drink, and other family-friendly activities throughout the weekend, ahead of both races.

Start times and TV coverage for the weekend haven't been announced yet and are expected in the coming months.

Fans who attended 2026 events at Dover can renew their seats through the track's ticket office or online before Friday, August 28, to lock in current pricing and preferred seating. Tickets for the general public go on sale through DoverMotorSpeedway.com or by calling 1-800-441-RACE.

Dover Motor Speedway has hosted NASCAR's top series at the high-banked, one-mile concrete oval since 1969. Nicknamed The Monster Mile, the track is owned and operated by Speedway Motorsports.
