Navy beat Towson 42-15 Saturday as quarterback Braxton Woodson broke free for a 38-yard touchdown run on the game's opening drive to give the Midshipmen a lead they never relinquished.
Woodson finished with 200 yards and three touchdowns on 23 carries, driving Navy's triple-option ground attack all afternoon. Fullback Vic Listorti added 81 yards and a score on 11 carries, and Jackson Gutierrez contributed two rushing touchdowns of his own.
Navy's ground game was relentless throughout, with the Midshipmen piling up rushing yards across their entire backfield — 14 different ball carriers combined for more than 500 yards on the ground. Towson quarterback Andrew Indorf completed 13 of 18 passes for 208 yards and two touchdowns, but the Tigers could manage only 39 yards on the ground as the Midshipmen defense recorded three sacks.
Navy opens at home next Saturday against Florida Atlantic.
