Orioles, Blue Jays to Play Two on Wednesday at Camden Yards

Baltimore looks to build on a series-opening win against Toronto, with both clubs hovering around .500 and the wild card long out of reach.

Baltimore Sports Feed · September 22, 2026

The Orioles (76-81) host the Toronto Blue Jays (77-80) in a split-doubleheader on Wednesday to close a three-game home series at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, with both clubs in nearly identical spots in the standings. Game 2 of the series, originally scheduled for Tuesday, was postponed because of relentless rain in Baltimore during the day.

Pete Alonso carried Monday's series opener, going 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI in Baltimore's 4-3 win. Gunnar Henderson added a 3-for-4 night with a solo shot of his own. Shane Baz worked 6.2 innings and allowed three earned runs to absorb the bulk of the workload before Yennier Cano (1.1 IP, 0 ER) and Rico Garcia (1.0 IP, 2 K, 0 ER) closed it out.

Toronto brings a team that has won four of its last ten heading into Tuesday, offering no obvious letup despite its late-season positioning.

The Blue Jays send RHP Max Scherzer to the mound in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader, where the 41-year-old carries a 3-8 record and a 6.07 ERA. Chris Bassitt (8-5, 4.64 ERA) was set to take the hill for Baltimore on Tuesday, but now the Orioles starter it to be announced.

At five games back of the final AL wild-card spot with five games to play, the Orioles have no meaningful path to October, but a win would close out a series victory at home in their final homestand of the year.
