Baltimore took Saturday's game 4-2 in extra innings, helped by a clutch performance from Tyler O'Neill at the plate and in the field, and a strong outing from starter Trevor Rogers, who worked 6.1 innings, surrendered one earned run and struck out eight. Tyler Wells tossed a clean inning in relief, and Yennier Cano, Cam Sanders and Andrew Kittredge helped finish off a wild win in 11 innings.
While the Orioles are streaking, the Astros are reeling and send righty Hunter Brown (1-0, 3.57 ERA) to the mound in the series finale. Brandon Young (7-2, 3.42 ERA) goes for Baltimore, with the O's choosing to start him rather than originally scheduled starter Kyle Bradish.
Young went seven-plus innings last time out. "The goal is to get deep in games and give the team a chance to win," Young said after his last outing, a July 9 win over the Chicago Cubs, which started the Orioles' current six-game win streak.
A win Sunday would give the Orioles a sweep of a fellow AL wild-card hopeful and push them closer to .500 — potentially sharpening their positioning as buyers, or at least as a team that stands its ground, before the August 3 trade deadline.
