Brandon Young didn’t get drafted. After two college stops — Howard College in Texas and Louisiana-Lafayette — the Orioles signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He spent five years in the minors, was named Baltimore’s minor league pitcher of the year in 2024 after striking out 132 batters in Double-A and Triple-A, then debuted on April 19, 2025. On his debut, he struck out the side on nine pitches in the fifth inning — an immaculate inning, the fifth in Orioles history.
