The Baltimore Orioles placed catcher Samuel Basallo on the 7-day injured list on Wednesday, Sept. 23, with concussion. The placement is retroactive to Sept. 22.
The 7-day injured list opens an active roster spot but doesn't free a spot on the 40-man roster. Basallo is eligible to return once the minimum stay has passed, counted from the retroactive date.
Also on Sept. 23, the Orioles recalled outfielder Heston Kjerstad from Triple-A Norfolk, the Orioles optioned left-hander Luis De León to Triple-A Norfolk and the Orioles recalled right-hander Trey Gibson from Triple-A Norfolk.
