Lamar Demeatrice Jackson Jr. is the quarterback of the Baltimore Ravens and the standard by which the modern NFL quarterback is now measured. Born January 7, 1997, in Pompano Beach, Florida, Jackson won the 2016 Heisman Trophy at Louisville — becoming the most dynamic college player of his generation — before the Ravens selected him 32nd overall in the 2018 NFL Draft.

He was named the NFL's Most Valuable Player unanimously in 2019, setting single-season records for quarterback rushing yards (1,206) and winning 36 touchdowns against just 6 interceptions. He won a second MVP award in 2023. He holds the NFL all-time record for career quarterback rushing yards and the all-time career passer rating among qualified starters — two records that, taken together, have never existed in the same player before.

In April 2023, he signed a five-year, $260 million extension with Baltimore — the largest guaranteed contract in NFL history at the time — negotiating the deal himself without a traditional agent.
