Ravens Depth Chart: Week 1 at Indianapolis Colts

Jovaughn Gwyn is the starting center, rookie Vega Ioane holds the right guard job, and weakside linebacker is the only spot Jesse Minter's first regular-season chart still leaves open.

Baltimore Sports Feed · September 8, 2026

The Ravens released their first regular-season depth chart of the Jesse Minter era on Tuesday, five days before Sunday's opener against the Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium. With the roster trimmed to 53, the chart is a leaner document than the four-deep sprawl of August — most positions now list two names, and the handful that go three deep tell you where Baltimore is carrying real insurance.

Two things stand out immediately. Jovaughn Gwyn is listed as the No. 1 center, ending a competition that began as a three-way race in early August, narrowed to Gwyn and Ethan Pocic once Danny Pinter picked up an injury designation, and now belongs to Gwyn alone. And rookie Vega Ioane, penciled in at right guard since the first preseason chart, held the spot all the way through — he'll be the only rookie starting on offense in Week 1.

The other name to circle is Carson Vinson, who appears twice: backup at left tackle behind Ronnie Stanley and backup at right tackle behind Roger Rosengarten. With David Sharpe and Gerad Lichtenhan off the chart, Vinson is the swing tackle, and an injury to either starter thins the line in a hurry.

Below is the full offense, defense, and special teams breakdown, exactly as released by the team.

What the Chart Tells Us

The front seven is the finished product. Trey Hendrickson, signed in March on a four-year, $112 million deal after leaving Cincinnati, opens at RUSH with second-year edge Mike Green behind him. Calais Campbell is at defensive end in his 19th NFL season, Nnamdi Madubuike and Travis Jones handle the interior, and Roquan Smith is at middle linebacker. Four of Baltimore's five season-long captains — Smith, Campbell, Kyle Hamilton and Lamar Jackson — are first-team names here.

Weakside linebacker is the lone unsettled job. Trenton Simpson and Teddye Buchanan have been separated by an "or" on every chart since the preseason opener, and Minter's staff still hasn't broken the tie. Expect both to play.

The safety alignment is worth watching. Jaylinn Hawkins is listed at strong safety with Malaki Starks at free safety, and Hamilton carries the generic "DB" designation the Ravens use for a player who moves around. Keondre Jackson is the only listed backup at either safety spot.

Ten rookies made the chart. Ioane and punter Ryan Eckley are the first-teamers. The rest — receivers Ja'Kobi Lane and Elijah Sarratt, tight ends Josh Cuevas and Matt Hibner, quarterback Joe Fagnano, edge defenders Zion Young and Ethan Burke, and cornerback Chandler Rivers — are backups with clear paths to snaps, particularly Young and Burke behind Tavius Robinson at SAM.

Tyler Loop keeps the kicking job, Eckley handles punts and holds. Baltimore opens the season with a second-year kicker and a rookie punter as its battery — and, for the second straight year, without a dedicated special teams captain, a role Justin Tucker held for 13 seasons.
